The Primorye seashore is connected to the Sea of Okhotsk in the northeast, with the East China Sea in the south and with the Pacific Ocean in the east. All of this allows fish to migrate from various geographical zones to the seashore of Primorye from both the north and south. There are about 370 species of freshwater fish, brackish water fish and fish of the sea. The diversity of species is explained by the location of the region, which is on the border of two faunal and climactic zones, namely temperate and subtropical, and great variation of environments in both fresh and sea waters. Recently there have been messages about unique cases of subtropical species in the area that do not usually tend towards extended migrations.
