The program will continue by visiting the famous Murom monasteries. The Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery is the oldest in Murom; it was founded in the 11th century by Prince Gleb. The Trinity Convent’s members are women, and this is not by chance. Its main temple holds the relics of saints Peter and Fevronia, the patrons of family. The Annunciation Cathedral, which was founded at the location of the church of Ivan the Terrible.
Before breakfast, we will visit the Diveyevo Monastery (if desired, without a guide). You will be able to welcome the new day in the holy place and drink from the energy that comes after worshipping the holy God.
In the small village of Diveyevo, the ancient domain of Prince Divey, where several pilgrim roads cross, lies the Holy Trinity-Saint Seraphim-Diveyevo convent.
18 kilometers away from the monastery there is the spring of Seraphim Sarovsky. A Cross Procession along the Ditch of the Mother of God with the sisters – a wonderful ending to the blessed day in Diveyevo.
The Arzamas District holds many amazing places; one of which is the village of Vyezdnoe, which we will stay in, approaching Arzamas. You will visit the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God (in the classicism style), which was erected to commemorate the victory over Napoleon.
The old city of Arzamas has preserved its old glory up until now: it was founded as a town-fortress by order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible in 1552 during his third military campaign against Kazan.
A tour around the Saint Nicholas Monastery
Arzamas has always been famous for its temples and monasteries. The monastery draws people in with its unusual warm atmosphere and coziness. The main temple holds two revered relics: the miracle-working icon of the Mother of God “The Deliverance for Those in Need” and the icon of the Mother of God “It is Truly Meet”. Both icons were brought to the monastery in our time, when the monastery began to rise from the ruins.
